Why I want to be a teacher!
In today’s society there are plenty of different kind of jobs and professions you can choose between. The choice of opportunity is enormous and the only one who really can stop you is yourself. Today’s youth have the great chance to choose professions after their interests and that’s one of my biggest reasons why I want to be a teacher. But there are other reasons too that turned me over to this job.
First of all, I really like working with children. I like their enthusiasm, curiosity, inquisitiveness, energy, happiness and their ingenuity. I like work with people that are happy and gives much of energy and that’s what the children do.
Second, I like to inspire people. It is like a passion for me to inspire people and to follow their development in life. As a teacher you are very important for the students and you have to have their trust if you’re going to succeed and manage to challenge and develop them as persons. It is a huge challenge for me and this is something you learn from all the time, no matter how long you have worked.
Of course, working as a teacher is an exacting job and there are going to be times that I wish I worked with something else. The children can be very hard and can totally take all of your energy. Like, when you having a crappy day and you don’t want to speak with anyone. Then it could be tuff to face the students and hold your head up.
But finally and in the big picture, I think working as a teacher is a flexible and funny job, where you always develop and challenge either from the students, co-workers or parents. Could you not like your job, when you meet twenty happy and curious pupils in the morning thirst for knowledge?

Big Brother
The Big-Brother syndrome has become a huge discussion issue in the late years. Mostly as a result of all terror attacks, that has been occurred around the world. But also the new technology has developed a new way to act and new options for the peoples.
This cyber-space world we are living in right now, allow the “Big-Brother” to watch every step you are talking. You're under guard 24 hours per day, all day long. The first thing you’re doing when you wake up in the morning is to switch on your sell-phone and pip you’ve got a text message. You answer the message and this is the first registration BB got on you. Then you go to work, switch on your computer and start to answer mail. These mails are saved in the space for six month or more. You become hungry and go for lunch, you pay with your VISA-card, and by ones the BB know that you have had Sushi for lunch. The rest of the day you spend by talking in your sell-phone and if you have bad luck or are a gangster, this conversation will be recorded and saved for all future.
So, that we are under watching is serious and not a joke. But I also mean that we, together, in some how, have built this community to. We want to know more about each other now than for 50 years ago. For 50 years it wasn’t so important to know who is calling before you answered the phone. Today, we can see at the display on the mobile, who is calling and then you can choose by your self, if you want to answer or not. So this technology development has also brought many new options.
Now days all the teenager have their own cell-phone, so their parents always can reach them.
When I was young, I didn’t have any mobile, but I and my friends managed any way. This enormous developing that has built has also made us dependent. We always have to be reached and knowing what the other ones are doing.
Facebook is also one thing that has developed your curious side. There you can show every one your life and you can spy on others life and what they have been doing during the day or when they broke up their relationship for example. For two years ago no one didn’t care about what the other part did, but when the options is there, right in front of you… you want to know.
By this I want to say, of course we are watched and you can not do anything in secret. But for a normal human being, that goes to work every day and pay the bill, I think it doesn’t matter. For the gangsters and these peoples who are illegal, I can not se any problems with the Big-Brother syndrome, then it is a god system that make us more safety. But also remember, much of these enormous changes, have we built by our self.

Grades or not grades?
The big topics now days among the teacher’s, are if grades are going to take place in school for pupils in 6th grade. Some are for this change and some are very against it. These who are against grades, mean that the pupils are to young to be judge and some scientist even mean that the children’s self-esteem would be negative developed. Many other countries than Sweden are having grades from early year, so the question is, is it so dangerous to have grades?
I think this discussion around grades or not grades are important but a little bit blow up. For some reason I can agree with these who are very against grade. I can agree that from 1st grade it is too early for grades and I think that pupils are not going to have a pressure to learn. I also want knowledge to be fun and interesting for the students.
But I also think that students can suit them self after situations. If grades are taking place in school from 6th grade, I’m 100% sure that the students will accept this situation and will find it reasonable because children are always under developing. I think that the grownups are more afraid of this change and more astonished than the young are. We teachers and parents are more wondering how this will end and just seeing the negative part of the situations then the students do.
Of course there is always a risk in change and there will always be two sides of this story. Like the scientist who mean that the children’s self-esteem would be negative and the weak students will be weaker with grades than without. And of course you can choose to se it from that point of view. But you can also se it from a possibility-view. Grades from 8th grade are fairly late, considering how long you have been going in school. And it is relative short time to change your grade if they are very bad, before you are going to search for college. If you have grades from 6th year, you will have more time to catch up these students who are weak and may have problems and have to have more time to get good grades. So for these pupils grades in earlier year could be a winning factory.
Finally, I think that this debate are huge, enormous and of course very important. You should not neglect this issue but you should not either do it to a world problem. There are other countries that have grades in earlier year and they have managed. I also think that we should not be so afraid of grades like we are now. Grades can be a possibility but only if you choose to se it that way.

The climate question- is it ignorance or being lazy?
Big black headlines at the TV and in the newspaper show us that our climate is changing and in danger. The media remind us nearly every day about the risk, but still nothing happen. We, human beings, don’t change our behaviour and just going on like it’s raining. Why? Is it ignorance or just being lazy that stops us from saving the world?
The big phenomenon today is the word stress. Everyone are stressed today of different reasons. Either it is work or family relationships, we are all surrounded by stress. We have to accomplish a good work to own the big money so we can buy a bigger boat or car. We also have a family to take care of, one, two or more children that are going to their activities and have to have dinner at the table every day. The day only have 24 hours so sometimes during the day it might be stressful and much to think about. Is it then possible to think about the fact that weather condition has change and what we have to too do about that?
A second phenomenon of today is that we don’t care and don’t know what’s happening with the garbage we thru out. We know that a truck pick up our garbage but what happen then with it? What are they doing with all garbage at the central of recycling? I think, mostly of the people, don’t know and maybe even had not thought about it. And if we don’t know, why should we then bather us…
So finally, we are all surrounded by things we have to do during a day, we have to plan every step we take to make the day survive. With that fact, do we have time to think about what garbage I throw or not? Do we have the time to go to the recycling central when it is easier and less time to just throw it and let someone else pick it up? I think it is, and with these aspects combine with the fact that we actually don’t realise how much we are throwing, makes the climate question to ignorance and being lazy.

Laugh and be entertained
Actually, I´m not a big fan of watching TV. For two reasons, first I don’t really have the time for doing it and second, that time I have left, I want to spend time with my friends instead of watching TV.
But of course, when I was a teenager I saw every reality show and TV-soap that existed on the TV. The favourite series at that time was the popular American production Friends. That programme contained everything, humour, love, fights, and troubles of all kind. Everybody among my friends saw the programme and it was the big topic to discuss when we had a break at school.
Since that series I have not directly followed any specific series until Desperate Housewife and Grey’s Anatomy occurred on the TV. After the first part of both series I was trapped.
I have followed every part from both series since that and you may now ask your self what it is that are so amazing about these programmes.
They are two different kinds of series with different stories. Desperate Housewife is about five housewife and their families and life. Grey’s take place in a hospital, the doctor’s life and the complicated cases that shows up at the hospital. Both series have action, laughter, intrigues and complicated life with both love and friend relationships. Even if these series are made up and all fiction, there are always something that you can relate to and something you can recognize with your self in your own life. In that part these two series touch topics that are relevant for our lifetime and problems that we may tussle with everyday.
Of course, there are many scenes and actions that are very unlikely that it would happen in real life, but that makes also these series a good moment, for an hour or two, to just disappear in the world of Desperate and Grey’s and only be entertained.

Better or worse?
Everyone who become a parent are also having their own view on who to bring the child up.
Every parents have their own opinion of what they think is most improtent for their kids to learn and their own way to do it.
I think the most importent things for the children to learn is, social skills , how to behave yourself when you are with other people. How to react when things don't go the way you like. How you treat you friends and so on. This is what I think is one importent part of a life. The way to get these skills are of course many and distinguish from each other dependence on what intrestes the child has and also the parents interestes. I´m very sporty girl and have been brought up with many sport activities, so for me it is very natural to say that during sport you learn much about the social behaivior. It really doesn't matter if it is a team sport or an individual sport. In a sport activity you learn how to behave, you have to behave in a sporty way, how angry you are. And you learn to cooperate whith people that may no be you favourite person, but you have to pass the ball to that person any how. You learn to take care of your self, no other person (mayby like mother) are not there to take care, so you have to learn to do it by your own. So during sport activities you learn a lot about how you react in specific situations, how to behave even if you lost and how to cooperate with your team members.
Of course there are not all children that are interested in sport, so the most importent thing is to find an activity that the child is interesed in. Mayby theater or orchestra, I think you learn the same aspects there to.
Now with these point of view it's very easy to say that everyone that play TV games or computer games, are not developing any social skills. Of course they are, but in a different way. The computer games are a big topic for the children that they talk about in the school and play the differents role at the lunchbreak. So of course these games are an importent part of a childs life, who maybe not is interested in sport or music. So even if I don't like computer games and TV games, I'll have to admit that it is an importent aspect for the kids at the school. But I would never allow to much TV games play for my kids.
